Imidazolidinyl urea is an antimicrobial preservative used in many cosmetics and pharmaceutical preparations. It has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, inhibit gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.
Imidazolidinyl urea is compatible with various components in cosmetics and its antibacterial ability is not affected by surfactants, proteins and other special additives in cosmetics. It is one of the most widely used cosmetic preservatives in the world, is safe and effective for both leave-on and rinse-off products. The recommended use level is 0.2-0.4%.
Uses & Applications
Personal care
Applicable in creams, shampoos, lotions, conditioners, liquid soap and other cosmetic and personal care products. It can be used alone or in combination with parabens and IPBC to enhance its antiseptic effect.
Household care
Widely used as preservative in detergents dishwashing liquids,and cleaning agents.
Pharmaceutical
One of the most widely used preservatives for topical pharmaceutical products
