Imidazolidinyl urea is a preservative in cosmetics. It has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It can inhibit gram-negative.
Imidazolidinyl urea is compatible with various components in cosmetics are, and the test results show that its antibacterial ability is not affected by surfactants, proteins and other special additives in cosmetics.
Imidazolidinyl urea can be used in creams, shampoos, lotions, conditioners and other products. It can be used alone or in combination with parabens and IPBC to enhance its antiseptic effect. The use range of ph value is 3~9, the general addition amount is 0.2%~0.4%, the maximum allowable addition amount is 0.6%, and it can be added in a wide temperature range (<90℃).
Imidazolidinyl urea is usually used as a cosmetic preservative with paraben or Kayson CG. It can be used in creams, milks, shampoos, etc. It is especially suitable for some advanced nutritional cosmetics that are prone to be infected with P. aeruginosa when the pH value is too alkaline. The usual dosage is 0.1%～0.5%.
Imidazolidinyl urea is effective against Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It provides a complete antimicrobial preservative system that is active against bacteria, yeast and mold.
Imidazolidinyl Urea, is permanently listed by the EU at levels up to 0.6% without restrictions. It is one of the most widely used cosmetic preservatives in the world.
Imidazolidinyl Urea is safe and effective for both leave-on and rinse-off products. The recommended use level is 0.2-0.4%.
