- INCI Name: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
- Chemical Name: 2-ethylhexyl 3-(4-methoxyphenyl)prop-2-enoate
- CAS No: 5466-77-3
Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, also called Octinoxate, is one of the safest and widely used UV B filter, which have been associated with sunburn and skin cancer, thus protecting the skin. Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, offers absorption of UV B radiation from 290 to 320 nm, used as a sun-protection agent that works on UV-B rays of the Sun and prevents skin damage. It is also used in cosmetics and personal care products to keep the other ingredients fresh and effective, help the skin to absorb other ingredients.
Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate dissolves in oil, which makes it a fat-seeking substance in the body. It can easily be dispersed into oil phase of anemulsion, is compatible with most cosmetic material and can be emulsified either hot or cold, depending upon the emulsifier. It is ideal for use in sun-care and skin-care products for everyday protection.
The maximum concentration in ready-for-use products is 7.5% in the United States (U.S.) and 10% in the European Union (E.U.).

Benzophenone-3, Oxybenzone, is a UV-A/B filter. It is an oil soluble powder for broad spectrum protection of approximately 1.5 SPF units/percent.
DHHB becomes a model UVA sunscreen agent, with better light stability than Avobenzone, better effect.
Ethylhexyl triazone, also known under the names Octyl Triazone, is an organic, oil-soluble sun filter that absorbs UV-A II and UV-B radiation.
