Cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) is a cationic quaternary ammonium compound, which is also a very important surface active and bactericide in life. It is used as a bactericidal disinfectant and exhibits effective antibacterial properties against a wide range of microorganisms.
It is used in food, cosmetics, household chemicals, industrial auxiliaries, surfactants, precision electroplating, water treatment, oil chemicals and other industries.
Uses & Applications of CPC
Oral care
Used in some types of mouthwashes, toothpastes, lozenges, throat sprays, breath sprays, and nasal sprays for its bactericide effect.
Hair care
Due to cationic nature it is further applicable in hair conditioners, shampoos, anti-static formulations.
Skin care
It is used as a safe & eco-friendly alternative preservative. It offers deodorancy by reducing or masking unpleasant body odors. Recommended for skin & sun care, makeup, antiperspirant and toiletries.
