- Application field
Benzophenone-12, also known as Octabenzone, UV 531, is a UV absorber/screener. It is used to protect polymers (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinylchloride) against damage by UV light.
Benzophenone-12 is a high-efficiency anti-aging additive with excellent performance, which can absorb 240-320nm nanometer ultraviolet rays, and has the characteristics of light color, non-toxicity, good compatibility, and easy processing.
Benzophenone-12 have the greatest protective effect, and help to reduce color, while delaying yellowing and loss of physical properties of block. It is widely used in PE, PVC, PP, PS, organic glass, polypropylene fibers and ethylene vinyl acetate and so on. But also for dry phenolic and alkyd varnish,
polyurethane, acrylic, epoxy, and other products and automotive repair air-drying paint, powder coating, polyurethane, rubber products, providing them with a good light stabilizing effect.
Benzophenone-12 has good compatibility with resin and low volatility. The recommended dosage is 0.1%–0.5%.
Benzophenone-12 uses and applications include: UV stabilizer, light stabilizer for plastics, coatings, food-grade polymers, polyethylene, PP, PVC, EVA, pipe, storage tanks, automarinegarden products, auto refinish and industrial coatings, adhesives, sealants; UV absorber in cosmetics; in food packaging applications
Benzophenone-12 acts as a UV absorber ,finds application in formulating color cosmetics and hair-, sun- and body care products.
